Mountain View High School in El Monte celebrated a thrilling advancement in their athletic program last Friday, hosting their very first Stunt Cheer competition. In this home opener, the new team showcased a fiery display of athleticism, coordination, and spirit, signalling a fresh chapter for the school’s sports endeavors.

Stunt Cheer, a competitive team sport derived from traditional cheerleading elements, focuses on precise, athletic maneuvers and team synchronization over typical sideline cheer activities. This inclusion at Mountain View marks a significant embrace of evolving sports and offers students a new arena for competition and growth.

Attendees at the competition witnessed a robust turnout where the Lady Vikings demonstrated not only their cheer skills but the sheer determination and hard work that had gone into preparing for the event. Team members executed routines involving tumbling, stunts, jumps, and cheers, competing in head-to-head performances that emphasized teamwork and athletic skill.

The introduction of Stunt Cheer at Mountain View comes at a time when schools across the nation are expanding their athletic programs to include more inclusive and diverse sports. With sports like Stunt Cheer, schools are able to provide more students with opportunities to engage in competitive sports, benefitting their physical and mental health while promoting school spirit.

Looking ahead, the Mountain View Stunt Cheer team is set to participate in several more competitions throughout the season. Coach Lopez and the team are focusing on refining their routines and skills, hopeful for a successful first season that sets a high standard for years to come.

The community is encouraged to support the Lady Vikings at upcoming events. Schedules can be found on the Mountain View High School website and social media channels, where updates and highlights continue to foster local spirit and pride in our student athletes.
