El Monte Fillies Celebrate more than five decades of youth softball as the longtime organization opens registration for its upcoming fall season. Since 1972, the league has introduced thousands of girls from El Monte and neighboring communities to the sport while building confidence, teamwork and lifelong friendships.
Founded more than 50 years ago, the El Monte Fillies have become one of the city’s longest-running youth sports organizations. Generations of players have worn the Fillies uniform, and many former athletes have returned as coaches, volunteers and parents to help the next generation develop both on and off the field.
The league welcomes girls of all skill levels, from first-time players to experienced athletes looking to improve their game. While teaching the fundamentals of fastpitch softball remains a priority, league leaders say the program is equally focused on developing leadership, discipline, sportsmanship and lasting friendships.
El Monte Fillies Celebrate Community Tradition
The upcoming fall season runs from September through November and is open to girls from throughout the San Gabriel Valley, not just El Monte residents. Registration is $150 for the 6-and-under division and $175 for players ages 8 and older. Fees include two player jerseys, insurance coverage and participation in league activities.
The El Monte Fillies are affiliated with USA Softball Southern California, giving players access to structured instruction and opportunities to continue developing their skills through competitive play.
The organization also has become known for bringing families together through community events beyond the softball diamond. Players regularly participate in El Monte’s Children’s Day Parade, and families gather each fall for the league’s annual Trunk or Treat celebration. Those traditions have helped create lasting connections among players, parents and volunteers.
League officials say every player deserves an opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of previous experience. Coaches work to create a supportive environment where athletes can build confidence while learning the value of teamwork and perseverance.
