The 29th Annual Pride of the Valley 5K Run & Walk is set to bring excitement and energy back to Baldwin Park on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Morgan Park (4100 Baldwin Park Blvd.). This beloved summer tradition features the Pride of the Valley 5K, the High School Road Race 5K, the half-mile Tike Trot, and the Virtual Pride of the Valley 5K, catering to participants of all ages and abilities.
“The Pride of the Valley 5K is undoubtedly one of the most exciting summer events in Baldwin Park,” said Baldwin Park Mayor Emmanuel J. Estrada. “Now in its 29th year, this race not only promotes healthy habits for community members of all ages, it also offers a fast course that can be truly competitive. We’re thrilled to once again host this event that brings our community together in such a positive way. Whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to set a personal best or a family wanting to enjoy a fun morning out, this event is for you.”
The day kicks off at 7:30 a.m. with the half-mile Tike Trot, designed for participants 8 years old and younger. At 8 a.m., the main events—the Pride of the Valley 5K and the High School Road Race 5K—will begin. Runners and walkers will navigate the 3.1-mile course starting and ending at Morgan Park. The route takes participants north on Baldwin Park Boulevard, east on Joanbridge Street, south along Maine Avenue, west on Olive Street, and finally south along Baldwin Park Boulevard back to Morgan Park.
Online registration is open now and will close on Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. However, those who decide to join last minute can still sign up on-site at the event. Registration fees are $32.80 for the 5K races, including the virtual option, and $22.20 for the Tike Trot. Each participant will receive a finisher’s medal upon crossing the finish line and may purchase a souvenir t-shirt while supplies last.
This USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned event will also feature an awards ceremony. Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each age division, the top 5 finishers in the high school age division, and the top 3 Boys’ and Girls’ teams in the high school race. The overall first male and female finishers of the Pride of the Valley 5K will receive a cash prize, with an additional cash bonus awarded to those who set a new course record.
Runners can track their progress with chip timing and mile splits. After the race, attendees are invited to enjoy a post-race party, complete with free refreshments and the awards ceremony.
Whether you are aiming to break records or simply enjoy a day out with family and friends, the Pride of the Valley 5K Run & Walk promises a memorable and fun-filled experience.
