Temple City volunteer orientation will give residents an opportunity to learn how they can support local programs and events while making a difference in their community. The free event later this month will introduce volunteers of all ages to opportunities that help strengthen city services and neighborhood connections.
The City of Temple City will host the orientation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in the Camelia Room at the Live Oak Park Community Center, 10144 Bogue St. Students, adults and retirees are encouraged to attend and explore ways to become involved in community programs and special events.
Temple City Volunteer Orientation Details
During the session, city staff will explain how the volunteer program works, outline the onboarding process and review the paperwork required before participants begin serving. Attendees will also receive a tour of the facility, learn about available volunteer assignments and be entered into raffle prize drawings.
The city welcomes volunteers ages 13 and older, making the program accessible to middle and high school students completing community service hours, college students building their resumes and adults looking to stay active in the community.
Volunteer opportunities vary throughout the year and may include assisting with community festivals, recreation classes, youth activities, senior programs, holiday celebrations and other city-sponsored events. Volunteers help city staff expand programming while creating welcoming experiences for residents and visitors.
According to the city, volunteer service provides participants with leadership experience, teamwork skills and opportunities to build relationships with neighbors who share a commitment to improving Temple City.
