Temple City officials will gather later this month for the city’s annual State of the City Address, offering residents a look back at the past year and a preview of priorities ahead. The 2026 State of the City Address will take place Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Historical Society of Temple City Woman’s Club Hall.
The event is presented by Cynthia Sternquist, who will reflect on Temple City’s accomplishments in 2025 and outline goals for 2026. City staff describe the evening as both a celebration of progress and an opportunity to reaffirm community direction.
The theme for this year’s address is “The Stage Is Set,” a nod to both the venue and the city’s focus on continuity, commitment, and community engagement. City officials say the theme reflects Temple City’s emphasis on building upon existing programs while preparing for future challenges.
The program will begin with a Call to Order at 6:15 p.m., followed by the formal ceremony at 6:30 p.m. A reception with hors d’oeuvres will follow the address. Residents are encouraged to arrive early for seating.
The event will be held at the Historical Society of Temple City Woman’s Club Hall, located at 9704 Woodruff Ave. The venue has long served as a gathering place for civic and cultural events in the city and offers a central location for residents.
During the address, Mayor Sternquist is expected to highlight citywide achievements from the past year, including public safety efforts, infrastructure maintenance, and community programs. City leaders often use the State of the City to review fiscal conditions, recognize staff and volunteers, and discuss ongoing projects.
The address also serves as a forum for outlining upcoming initiatives. Topics in past years have included capital improvement planning, housing policy, and regional partnerships. City officials say the presentation will focus on maintaining service levels while responding to resident needs.
While the event highlights Temple City, city leaders note the address also underscores the city’s role within the broader San Gabriel Valley. Regional coordination on public safety, transportation, and shared services remains a recurring theme in municipal planning discussions.
The State of the City Address is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed about local government priorities. City staff view the annual address as a key opportunity for transparency and civic participation.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Feb. 17. Residents may contact City Hall for RSVP information or visit the city’s website at https://www.templecityca.gov for updates and event details.
