TEMPLE CITY — Temple City National Night Out brought residents, sheriff’s deputies and city staff together Aug. 5 at Temple City Park. The free event combined public safety outreach with an evening of live music and family activities.
Temple City Public Safety and deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Temple Station met with residents during the event. Families had opportunities to learn about public safety resources and interact with personnel who serve the community.
The city paired National Night Out with its long-running Concerts in the Park series. The Dreamboats performed music from the 1950s and 1960s during the Aug. 5 concert, according to the city’s 2026 concert schedule. Temple City has hosted its free summer concerts for more than 24 years.
Temple City National Night Out Builds Relationships
National Night Out focuses on strengthening relationships between residents and the public safety agencies serving their neighborhoods. The setting gives families an opportunity to meet deputies outside emergencies or calls for service.
That relationship carries particular importance in Temple City. The city receives law enforcement services from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department rather than operating a municipal police department.
Temple Station serves Temple City along with Rosemead, South El Monte, Duarte, Bradbury and several unincorporated communities. Residents can find station information and law enforcement resources through the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Temple Station.
Meeting deputies in a community setting can also help residents understand how to seek assistance. Children can become familiar with first responders while adults can ask questions about available resources.
Public Safety Joins Summer Tradition
Combining the event with Concerts in the Park placed public safety outreach within an established Temple City tradition.
The city’s concert series runs for 10 weeks from June through August at Temple City Park, 9701 Las Tunas Drive. The Aug. 5 National Night Out featured The Dreamboats before the series concludes Aug. 12 with The Answer.

Pairing the programs allowed residents already attending the concert to interact with public safety personnel. It also gave deputies and city employees an informal opportunity to meet the people they serve.
Those connections can become useful when residents later need to report suspicious activity, request assistance or seek information.
Community Connections Continue Beyond Event
National Night Out lasted one evening, but its broader purpose centers on relationships that continue throughout the year.
Temple Station remains a local resource for residents who need law enforcement assistance. The station is located at 8838 Las Tunas Drive and serves Temple City and several surrounding communities.
Temple City National Night Out placed those services in a familiar community setting where residents could ask questions and meet personnel before an emergency occurs.
For Temple City, the event also showed how an established summer tradition can provide another way to connect residents with local resources. Those relationships can help residents better understand whom to contact and where to turn when public safety concerns arise.
