Duarte will bring winter to the foothills with the return of the Duarte Snow Nite event on Dec. 7. The city will host the celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. at Beardslee Park, located at 2000 Buena Vista Street. Families can expect snow play areas, sled runs, carnival rides, crafts, holiday food and photos with Santa. The gathering marks a major seasonal event for local residents and draws visitors from across the San Gabriel Valley.
Winter attraction at Beardslee Park
The Duarte Snow Nite event transforms the park into a winter scene for one night. City staff began preparation early this month to build sled lanes and create snow areas suited for younger guests. The work includes layout plans that balance safety and access. Past events showed strong turnout, and the park often fills within the first hour. Staff recommend early arrival for parking on side streets near the site.
The snow play areas cover a large section of the park lawn. Crews use material designed for outdoor events with steady foot traffic. Children often rotate through the features with help from volunteers. The sled runs draw long lines and produce some of the night’s most viewed moments. Parents usually gather along the edges to film rides and guide younger children through the line.
Carnival rides and crafts for families
The Duarte Snow Nite event includes a set of small carnival rides near the park’s central walkway. Operators will run them throughout the evening. Craft tables will stand near the stage area and offer simple seasonal projects. Those stations give children a chance to slow down between rides and snow play. Volunteers and Community Services staff will supervise each craft site.
Food vendors will serve holiday items and familiar snacks. The city said many families treat the event as a dinner outing and stay for the full program. Warm drinks tend to move quickly when temperatures drop after sunset.
Santa visit and community ties
Santa Claus will greet children for photos near the main tent. The city positions the area next to a clear walkway to help families pass through the line. The Santa section remains one of the most visited features of the Duarte Snow Nite event. Staff guide families through the queue and keep the station moving with steady timing.
Duarte leaders consider the event a core part of the city’s holiday season. The gathering allows residents to connect and share a lighthearted December evening without leaving the community. City updates will appear on the municipal website at https://www.accessduarte.com.
Guests should bring jackets and comfortable shoes. Evening temperatures fall quickly in the park, and the snow areas can get cold. Parking will be available along Buena Vista Street and nearby blocks.
