Rosemead Go Transit, a new on-demand microtransit service, is now operating across Rosemead with rides costing $1 or less for eligible residents.

Residents of Rosemead have a new way to get around town with the introduction of Rosemead Go Transit, an innovative microtransit program that launched on July 1. Operated in partnership with TransitTech provider Via, the service allows passengers to book affordable shared rides anywhere within city boundaries.

A public ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the program’s launch will take place on Tuesday, July 15, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Rosemead City Hall, 8838 Valley Blvd. The event will include remarks from city officials and a demonstration of the electric vehicle fleet that will provide the rides.

Affordable Rides for All Ages

Through October 1, every rider can take their first ten trips free. After that, fares are capped at $1 per trip. Seniors and people with disabilities enrolled in Rosemead Go Plus are eligible for a discounted fare of 50 cents per ride and door-to-door service within a five-mile radius of the city.

Residents can book a trip using the Rosemead Go app, available in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Vietnamese. For those without smartphones, rides can be reserved by calling (626) 572-4099. Service operates seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mayor Sean Clark said Rosemead Go Transit is designed to expand mobility and access across the community. “This innovative, low-cost, and convenient transportation program demonstrates Rosemead’s desire to ensure our residents can always reach the opportunities that matter most—whether that is work, school, healthcare, shopping, or seeing friends and family,” Clark said in a prepared statement.

Sustainable and Electric Fleet

Rosemead Go’s entire fleet is made up of zero-emission electric vehicles, supporting the City’s sustainability and clean air goals. According to city officials, the program reflects Rosemead’s commitment to improving public health by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and traffic congestion.

Via’s technology powers similar microtransit systems in Monterey Park, West Covina, and Torrance. The platform matches riders going in the same direction, then directs them to virtual bus stops—safe corners near their pickup and drop-off locations—to enable efficient shared trips.

Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are part of the fleet, and all rides are provided based on vehicle availability. Rosemead Go Plus users can pre-schedule their rides, while Rosemead Go rides are booked on-demand.

Community Access and Participation

The City encourages residents to download the app, learn about the service zones, and take advantage of free rides during the introductory period. A detailed service map, eligibility criteria, and rider information are available on the official City of Rosemead website at www.cityofrosemead.org and on Via’s platform at www.ridewithvia.com.

City staff will also be present at the ribbon-cutting event to assist residents with app setup and answer questions about the program. Rosemead Go Transit is part of the City’s broader effort to enhance transportation options and promote equity in mobility access for all residents.
