El Monte is launched a new Covid-19 testing site on July 30th that is available only to residents of the City of El Monte.
Testing is available every Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Community Center parking lot behind the building at 3130 Tyler Ave.
Residents must register online through El Monte’s Virtual City Hall website which can be accessed through the City of El Monte website.
The city has partnered with the Regan Career Institute, an El Monte-based vocational school, to host the new testing site. According to City Manager Alma Martinez, the medical trade school was a recipient of the city’s $10,000 business grant program and wanted to host a testing site for El Monte residents.
With educators state or nationally certified, The Regan Career Institute provides students with education and training necessary to pursue careers in healthcare. Students can pursue either an Associate of Applied Science in medical assisting and certificates in medical assisting.
The new Covid-19 testing site is the second in El Monte.
“As cases increase in El Monte, as in other communities, we wanted to have a dedicated testing resource for El Monte families,” Mayor Andre Quintero said in a statement.
El Monte had 2,853 coronavirus cases as of Monday, July 27, according to data from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Nearby drive-up testing sites for COVID-19 are available in Los Angeles County, including a site opened in April at the San Gabriel Valley Airport in El Monte located at 4233 Santa Anita Avenue. At the moment, testing is available to all Los Angeles County residents who exhibit symptoms of COVID-19. These include fever, cough or difficulty breathing.
Widespread testing, along with robust contact tracing, is an important tool in our fight against COVID-19. Everyone in LA County who wants to be tested for coronavirus should feel free to sign up for an appointment at any one of the county-operated testing locations.
Find your nearest testing facility using the COVID-19 Testing Locator app which can be found on the Virtual City Hall website through the City of El Monte website.
This new testing site is El Monte’s latest endeavor to help its residents during the COVID-19 pandemic including free air conditioners, grants to small businesses, rental assistance programs, pop-up drive in movies on Main st, and a Farmer’s Market just to name a few.
