The newly renovated Morgan Park Basketball Courts officially reopened June 24 as Baldwin Park celebrated improvements to one of its busiest recreational spaces. City officials, residents and community partners gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of the project at Morgan Park, 4100 Baldwin Park Blvd.
The revitalized courts were made possible through a partnership between the City of Baldwin Park and G6 Designs, whose owner, Victor Garcia, selected the park for a neighborhood improvement project designed to give back to the community where he grew up.
Morgan Park Basketball Courts Renovation Celebrated
Mayor Daniel Damian thanked G6 Designs and the artists who helped transform the courts into a colorful community gathering place. Artists Mario Alberto Herrera, Resoe, Sergileto and Rentería contributed custom artwork that gives the basketball courts a distinctive new appearance.
In a city news release, Damian said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating recreational spaces that strengthen neighborhood connections and provide lasting benefits for residents. He credited Garcia and the project team for helping bring the vision to life.
Garcia, who grew up in Baldwin Park and participated in youth programs at the nearby Esther Snyder Community Center, said the renovation was an opportunity to give back to the city that helped shape his life. He said the G6 Designs team was proud to help create a space that future generations can enjoy.
Community Celebration Follows Ribbon Cutting
The reopening celebration extended beyond the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Residents enjoyed a three-on-three basketball tournament, live music, a car show, refreshments and community giveaways throughout the day. Free back-to-school supplies and haircuts were also available while supplies lasted, creating a family-friendly event that drew residents of all ages.
City officials said the renovated courts represent more than cosmetic improvements. The project reflects Baldwin Park’s continued investment in public spaces that encourage recreation, strengthen neighborhood connections and provide safe places for families and youth to gather.
Morgan Park remains one of Baldwin Park’s signature parks and serves as a hub for youth sports, community programs and seasonal events throughout the year. Located adjacent to the Esther Snyder Community Center, the park hosts activities that attract residents from across the city.
The newly resurfaced courts are expected to serve generations of players while reinforcing the park’s role as a neighborhood gathering place. City officials said projects like this demonstrate the value of partnerships between local government and private organizations working to improve public spaces.
