GoSGV Offers E-Bike Vouchers for San Gabriel Valley Residents

San Gabriel Valley residents will soon have the opportunity to trade short car trips for clean, convenient, and cost-effective e-bike rides through a new regional incentive program launching this month. The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) announced the start of its GoSGV E-Bike Voucher Program, opening pre-applications on November 3.

Program promotes clean transportation options

The GoSGV Voucher Program will provide $2,000 vouchers for eligible residents to purchase cargo e-bikes—electric bicycles designed to carry groceries, equipment, or even passengers over short distances. The initiative aims to reduce emissions, ease local traffic congestion, and expand affordable mobility options across the region.

Residents in El Monte, South El Monte, Alhambra, Monterey Park, Avocado Heights, Rosemead, San Gabriel, and other ExpressLanes communities are eligible to apply. The program also serves income-qualified residents who participate in assistance programs such as CalFresh, Medi-Cal, or Section 8 housing.

Applications open November 3–17

Interested residents can apply online at SGVCOG.org/Go-SGV between November 3 and 17. The voucher pre-application marks the first step in the process, with selected participants to be notified about next steps after the application window closes.

According to SGVCOG, the GoSGV initiative is designed to help residents “swap short car trips for fun, efficient, and emission-free rides,” supporting regional sustainability goals and helping households save on fuel costs.

Encouraging greener, healthier commutes

E-bikes have become an increasingly popular transportation choice in the San Gabriel Valley, offering a practical alternative for local errands, school drop-offs, and short-distance commuting. By offering vouchers for cargo-style e-bikes, the GoSGV program aims to make environmentally friendly mobility accessible to more families and working residents.

The program is funded through partnerships with the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and Metro, both of which are investing in cleaner, community-based transportation options that improve air quality and reduce reliance on single-occupancy vehicles.

Empowering local residents

For many in El Monte and surrounding cities, the voucher program could mean greater flexibility and independence in daily travel. The $2,000 e-bike voucher makes electric mobility attainable for households that may not otherwise afford the technology, while also supporting regional climate action and sustainability goals.

Residents are encouraged to review eligibility details and prepare required documentation before applying. More information about the GoSGV Voucher Program, including application links and program guidelines, is available at SGVCOG.org/Go-SGV.
