We are lucky to have some fine Senior Centers in this area. Without a doubt the Centers in El Monte & South El Monte rank up there with among the top – both are well equipped and staffed by experts in their field.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Senior Centers across the State were ordered closed! By the Governor. So what’s a guy going to do?
Well, when you write a column in a community newspaper you ask your readers. I am happy to report that our friend up in Sonoma helped me out:
Bill wrote, “Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a little bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags. Then try 50-lb potato bags and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I’m at this level)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.”
Thankfully more and more businesses are starting to open, restaurants are serving walk in customers, and the Governor has announced a new round of openings for this week.
Churches, with conditions, are having the live services again and hopefully soon our beautiful Senior Centers will be back in operation, until then Stay Safe at Home.
