The EMT training program at El Monte-Rosemead Adult School opens enrollment Oct. 13, offering a nine-week pathway to National Registry certification for residents of El Monte, South El Monte, Baldwin Park, Rosemead, Arcadia, Temple City and Irwindale. Classes meet twice weekly in modern labs at 10807 Ramona Blvd., and all enrollees must first attend a two-hour orientation in Room 213 on the second floor. Orientation sessions are Aug. 26, Sept. 9 and Sept. 16, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Completing orientation secures placement on the EMT training program roster.

EMT Training Program Curriculum
The affordable program, funded in part by adult school grants, covers patient assessment, trauma care, cardiac emergencies and emergency response protocols. Hands-on skills practice uses fully equipped ambulances and state-of-the-art simulation equipment. Instructors follow standards set by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority, and the school is accredited by WASC. Graduates are prepared to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam and meet both state and national requirements.

EMT Training Program Career Benefits
By expanding the local EMT pipeline, this program addresses staffing shortages that can delay emergency response across the San Gabriel Valley. Graduates qualify for entry-level EMT roles with starting salaries above $50,000 and may pursue advanced certifications such as paramedic or firefighter-paramedic. The evening schedule accommodates working adults, single parents and veterans, and student services offers financial aid and career counseling.

Community Benefits of EMT Training Program
Local fire departments and ambulance services will gain bilingual EMTs fluent in Spanish and Mandarin, improving communication during high-stress calls in Baldwin Park and Rosemead. A partnership with San Gabriel Valley hospitals provides clinical rotations that reflect the diverse communities served. “Training local residents to serve their neighbors builds trust and enhances outcomes,” said Program Coordinator Maria Lopez.

Registration and Contact Information
Enrollment is capped at 30 students per cohort. Prospective students should visit www.emras.edu or call 626-258-5800 to join the orientation list. The program’s affordable tuition removes a common barrier for prospective EMTs and strengthens public safety across seven Mid Valley communities.
