El Monte Union High School District will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 2, to celebrate the grand opening of El Monte High School’s upgraded track and field facility. The event will take place at 3048 Tyler Ave., El Monte, and will highlight the District’s investment in athletic and wellness infrastructure through Measures D and HS. The El Monte track upgrade includes a new synthetic track, an updated scoreboard, and site improvements aimed at enriching the student experience.
Facility to Support Health and Community
The newly renovated track and field is designed to serve multiple functions on campus. In addition to physical education and athletic training, the space will be used for student performances, health instruction, and community events. The El Monte track upgrade reflects the District’s goal to promote wellness and school spirit by offering a safe, modern environment for students and the public.
El Monte Union Superintendent Dr. Edward Zuniga noted that projects like these demonstrate the District’s ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities that support student achievement.
Community Celebration Scheduled for June 2
Local dignitaries, school officials, and community members are expected to attend the celebration. The event will feature student performances and complimentary tacos and refreshments. Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the facility and speak with students and staff about its future use.
