The El Monte Union High School District will host its 2025 Districtwide College Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at South El Monte High School. The Districtwide College Night offers students and families a chance to explore educational and career pathways in one place, with representatives from UC, CSU, private universities, community colleges and the military on hand. The district will provide transportation free of charge, and attendees can take part in raffles and giveaways.

El Monte Union serves more than 7,000 students across five comprehensive high schools, a continuation school and an adult school. South El Monte High School, at 1001 Durfee Avenue, will transform its campus into an information hub where families can ask questions, collect materials and connect directly with admission officers. District officials say the event supports informed decision making and can save families time and money by bringing dozens of institutions under one roof..

Explore pathways at College Night

Students at all grade levels can discover academic opations and support services. Representatives from University of California campuses will offer insight into application requirements, financial aid and campus life. CSU campuses will discuss transfer agreements, scholarship programs and career technical education. Community colleges like Río Hondo College will explain associate degree pathways, certificate programs and transfer guarantees to four-year institutions.

Military recruiters and career technical education providers will also be on site. Families can learn about enlistment, training, tuition assistance and career fields within the armed forces. Private institutions will highlight specialized programs in engineering, business, health care and the arts, many of which offer early college credit and accelerated learning tracks. Raffle prizes include college-branded merchandise, test prep materials and scholarship awards, while giveaways feature resource guides and campus tour vouchers.

Districtwide College Night benefits students and families

The district will run buses from all five comprehensive high schools. Buses will depart from El Monte High, Arroyo High, Mountain View High, Rosemead High and Fernando R. Ledesma High at 4:15 p.m. Organizers recommend families arrive early to secure seating at workshops on financial aid, student athlete eligibility and career exploration.

Households with limited English proficiency can access translation services provided by district staff. Bilingual liaisons will guide families through workshop sign-ups and college portal navigation. These services aim to reduce barriers and foster community engagement among underrepresented groups. Many vendors will distribute resource packets that include web links, application checklists and financial aid timelines.

Attendees will also meet representatives from nonprofit organizations offering mentorship, tutoring and scholarship opportunities. Local partners will be available to speak on applying for Cal Grants and locating community-based internships. Families can compare programs side by side and gather materials without multiple campus visits, saving both time and travel expenses.
