by | Oct 17, 2025 | Chalk Talk

The El Monte Union High School District will host its annual College and Career Conference at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Pacific Palms Resort. Designed to help students and families plan for the future, the event will feature a full day of workshops, wellness resources, and guidance from educators and industry professionals. Sessions will be offered in English, Spanish, and Chinese, reflecting the district’s ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Breakfast, lunch, and district merchandise will be provided for attendees.

Supporting Student Success Through Collaboration

The conference builds on a long-standing El Monte Union tradition that brings together students, families, and community partners. In previous years, the event has drawn hundreds of participants from across the district, which serves students in El Monte, South El Monte, and nearby communities. Past conferences have been hosted at Pacific Palms Resort, reinforcing its role as a familiar and accessible venue for families.

El Monte Union’s College and Career Conference was first launched in 2018 under the theme “The Places You’ll Go!” at El Monte High School. That inaugural event offered more than 30 workshops on topics including financial aid, college entrance requirements, the UC and CSU systems, and career technical education. Over the years, the conference has grown in scope and scale, maintaining its focus on helping students make informed choices about higher education and employment pathways.

Expanding Access and Resources for Families

This year’s conference will once again emphasize college readiness, workforce development, and student well-being. Families will have the opportunity to hear directly from counselors, college representatives, and local organizations offering guidance on admissions, scholarships, and career preparation. Mental health and wellness resources will also be available, recognizing the importance of supporting the whole student.

District leaders note that the conference’s multilingual format makes it one of the most accessible college and career events in the region. Parents and guardians who may be unfamiliar with postsecondary systems are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and connect with professionals who can help guide their students’ next steps. The event reflects El Monte Union’s mission to empower every student—whether planning for college, entering the workforce, or pursuing vocational training—with the knowledge and confidence to succeed.

Continuing a Culture of Readiness

The College and Career Conference is part of El Monte Union’s broader effort to build a strong college- and career-going culture throughout its schools. Partnerships with higher education institutions, local businesses, and community groups continue to expand the district’s network of opportunities for students.

By gathering families, educators, and community leaders under one roof, the district reinforces its belief that postsecondary success is a shared effort. As the Oct. 25 event approaches, El Monte Union invites all students and families to take part in a day dedicated to growth, planning, and future possibilities.
