Danny Trejo, Hat’s Off
to a Nice Bad Guy!

…so the other day I got a press release that Danny Trejo was going to several local schools in the area with Supervisor Solis to celebrate the completion of several sound walls constructed by the L.A. County Dept. of Public Works that help diminish exposure of emissions and traffic noise from the I-10 highway and to distribute toys and books to the kids. With his scarred face, the long, thin moustache, and tattooed body, Danny Trejo is one of the most distinctive actor of our time. The characters he plays are bad guys but in real life Danny is one of the nice guys.

I met Danny Trejo several years ago when I was the President of the Boyle Heights Chamber of Commerce, he had agreed to be the Grand Marshal of our Christmas Parade, just one of the many community events that he has done over the years. Born in Echo Park, Danny lived a life like the characters he plays, usually criminals in one form or the other (assassins, prisoners, etc.) I think he is the only actor to appear in all three of the “From Dusk Til Dawn” movie series. He turned his life around in 1985 and has been helping others out ever since.

Whether he’s starring in some new action movie (he is one of the most prolific of American actors, usually doing at least four films a year) or speaking to addicts or alcoholics or passing out toys to kids, Danny Trejo has become an icon to countless fans around the world. So a well- deserved “Hat’s Off” to Danny Trejo (aka: Desperado, Navajas, Razor Charlie, Machete, Cuchillo or Cucuy to name a few).

{NOTE: We hope you all had a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukka, a Wonderful Kwanzaa or simple a great Holiday Season with your love ones as we get ready for a New Year}
