Car Parade Events to Commemorate El Monte Union Class of 2020

To Our El Monte Union students, families and school community:

As you may know, Los Angeles County announced today that it has relaxed some of its public health restrictions and will now allow school districts and other organizations to host car parades celebrating graduations and other special achievements.

We are elated to hear this news and are excited at the opportunity to celebrate our Class of 2020 with our community!
As such, we are working with our principals and administrative teams to carefully plan events that adhere to social distancing requirements and safely recognize this special class of seniors.

Our plans are very preliminary at this stage, but we anticipate planning car parade events – which would be restricted to individual graduates and their immediate families only (no spectators) – at each of our school sites on June 4.

As part of the requirements, only one vehicle per graduate will be permitted throughout the event. Graduates, donned in their caps and gowns, will receive their diplomas during the parade. All individuals – parents, students and staff – will be required to wear masks.

To ensure crowd/vehicle control and safe flow of traffic, graduates and families will receive a scheduled time to report to their respective sites.

The streaming of a virtual celebration program will follow at 7:30 p.m., enabling families to watch from home.
Again, we are still in the planning stages and hope to share more information with you all next week.
We look forward to celebrating with our Class of 2020!

Sincerely,

Dr. Edward Zuniga
Superintendent
