The San Gabriel Valley is mourning the loss of 15-year-old Rosemead High School student Aziel Zacapala after a fatal stabbing in El Monte. Aziel, a student-athlete at Rosemead High School, died after a stabbing Friday afternoon near Potrero School in El Monte. Authorities said three people were injured during the incident. Aziel later died at a local hospital, while the other two victims survived and were reported in stable condition.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is assisting the El Monte Police Department with the investigation. As of press time, investigators had not announced any arrests or released information about a suspect or possible motive.
