Dear El Monte Union students and families:
We wholeheartedly welcome you to the 2020-21 school year and the virtual reopening of our schools. We sincerely hope that you have had a safe and healthy summer and are excited for the new school year.
El Monte Union’s number one priority is providing every student with the highest quality education, while protecting the safety and well-being of all who enter our campuses, which is why we began the fall 2020 semester with a distance learning model for all students.
We understand that these are trying times for students and their families. We are all eager to return to the normal routine of spirited classrooms, animated hallways, boisterous athletic competitions and enlightening late-night study sessions. These are the moments that students remember and cherish.
Still, the COVID-19 health crisis presents teachers and students with the unique opportunity of gaining wisdom, increasing knowledge and fostering a work ethic that will resonate long after this pandemic is over. Our talented teachers, staff and administrators have been working exceedingly hard to plan robust lessons that will be delivered online under a quarter system. This will be a new challenge for us all.
Our mission is to prepare students for the rigor and demands of the real world, provide a pathway to college and career and emphasize collaboration and critical thinking so that all students leave school with the confidence and conviction to pursue their dreams.
Nothing, not even a global pandemic, will ever deter us from fulfilling this mission.
El Monte Union will continue to evaluate its instructional model, consult with our stakeholders and make every effort to resume in-class instruction at all of our campuses when it is safe to do so. Until then, know that we are committed to assisting you and helping you along in your journey.
