BALDWIN PARK — Baldwin Park Council Chambers will remain closed for modernization after council members held their final meeting in the current space Aug. 19. The city expects the renovated chambers to reopen in spring 2027.
During construction, City Council meetings will move to the Valley County Water District Board of Directors Room at 5121 Lante St. in Baldwin Park. The district confirms that address as its headquarters and board meeting location.
The temporary move will allow council members to continue conducting city business while construction proceeds. Residents will also have an in-person location to attend meetings and participate in the public process.
The city has described the work as a modernization project intended to provide an updated meeting space for the community. Its announcement did not provide details about the planned improvements, construction cost or funding source.
Baldwin Park Council Chambers Begin New Chapter
The Aug. 19 meeting marked a temporary farewell to a familiar civic space for residents and city officials.
Council chambers serve as the setting for public decisions involving budgets, public safety, development, infrastructure, parks and community programs. Residents can also address elected officials during public comment and follow council deliberations in person.
The closure is expected to continue for several months. The city anticipates reopening the renovated chambers in spring 2027.
The modernization will temporarily change where residents participate in council meetings, but the public process will continue at the alternate location.
Valley County Water District is an independent special district governed by a five-member elected board. Its own board meets in the Board of Directors Room at the Lante Street headquarters. The district states that its meetings are open to the public.
The district provides water service to portions of Baldwin Park, Irwindale, West Covina and Azusa.
Meetings Move To Lante Street
Residents planning to attend upcoming Baldwin Park City Council meetings should confirm the location and meeting time before arriving.
The Valley County Water District headquarters is at 5121 Lante St., Baldwin Park. The district’s official calendar also listed a Baldwin Park City Council meeting at the facility on Aug. 19.
Regular Baldwin Park City Council meetings are generally scheduled for the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Residents should review each posted agenda for current meeting information during the construction period.
City agendas, council information and municipal updates are available through the City of Baldwin Park website. Information about the temporary meeting site is available through the Valley County Water District website.
The Baldwin Park Council Chambers project will temporarily move an important part of city government away from City Hall. For residents, checking meeting notices during construction will help them continue following council decisions and participating in local government until the chambers reopen.
