EL MONTE — El Monte After-School Funding will provide nearly $2.2 million to continue youth sports and after-school programs during the 2026-27 school year, giving thousands of local students access to safe, supervised recreation and enrichment after classes end. The investment, approved by the El Monte City Council, reinforces a long-standing partnership between the city and two local school districts to support children and working families.
The council authorized the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department to accept $591,000 from the El Monte City School District and $1.6 million from the Mountain View School District. Together, the agreements provide $2.191 million to operate programs that offer homework assistance, recreational activities, youth sports and supervised care throughout the upcoming school year.
El Monte After-School Funding Strengthens Partnerships
The funding reflects years of collaboration between the City of El Monte and its educational partners. While the school districts provide financial support, the city oversees daily operations through its Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, allowing students to participate in structured programs at schools and community facilities.
