EL MONTE — Nearly 500 residents explored new employment, education and training opportunities during the El Monte Job Resource Fair on Saturday at the Grace T. Black Auditorium. The event, hosted by Mayor Jessica Ancona and the City of El Monte, brought together about 30 employers, colleges, apprenticeship programs, utility providers and community organizations committed to helping local residents build stronger careers.
The fair reflected the city’s ongoing investment in workforce development by connecting job seekers with employers while introducing them to educational pathways and career training designed for long-term success.
El Monte Job Resource Fair Connects Employers And Residents
Representatives from a wide range of industries spent the day answering questions, discussing job openings and sharing information about career advancement. Participating organizations included Target, Chase, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Rio Hondo College, Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, Mountain View School District, El Monte Union High School District, Valley Vista Services, ActiveSGV, RideYellow, Transdev and apprenticeship programs representing the building trades.
Rather than focusing only on immediate hiring, the event provided resources for residents at every stage of their careers. Visitors explored college degree and certificate programs, learned about paid apprenticeships, met with prospective employers and connected with organizations that provide workforce support services.
Paid apprenticeship programs continue gaining attention as more residents seek careers that offer competitive wages while allowing participants to earn income during training. Community colleges have also expanded short-term certificate programs in health care, advanced manufacturing, transportation, public safety and other high-demand industries.
