The Rosemead School District agreements mark a new chapter in labor relations after district leaders reached tentative contracts with both teachers and classified employees. The agreements include salary increases, health benefit improvements, and a renewed commitment to maintaining fiscal stability while supporting the district’s workforce.
District officials announced tentative agreements with the Rosemead Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association, Rosemead Chapter 9, following months of negotiations. The contracts remain subject to approval by the Board of Trustees at its Aug. 6 meeting.
Rosemead Teachers Association Agreement
Under the proposed agreement, teachers would receive a 1.4% salary increase retroactive to July 1, 2025, followed by an additional 1% increase effective July 1, 2026. District officials said the combined 2.4% increase builds on last year’s agreement and reflects the district’s commitment to attracting and retaining qualified educators.
The classified employees’ agreement includes a 1.4% retroactive salary increase for 2025, a 0.5% salary increase beginning July 1, 2026, and a 0.5% increase to the health benefits proration schedule. The district also said it will continue covering at least one health care plan for all full-time employees.
District leaders said the agreements balance competitive compensation with responsible financial planning. According to the district, reserve levels are projected to remain well above the state’s required minimum for the next two fiscal years.
Rosemead School District Agreements Reflect Collaboration
Board President Nancy Armenta praised the collaborative process, saying teachers and classified staff remain central to student success. She said the settlements demonstrate a shared commitment to providing the best possible education for students throughout the district.
Superintendent Dr. Philip D’Agostino said he appreciated the work of all negotiating teams in reaching three-year agreements for both bargaining units. He said the district’s future depends on continued collaboration between employees and district leadership.
The Rosemead School District serves about 2,431 students through four elementary schools and Muscatel Middle School. Its attendance area includes Rosemead and portions of El Monte, San Gabriel and Temple City. District officials said maintaining competitive compensation is part of a broader effort to recruit and retain employees who support student achievement.
The Board of Trustees is scheduled to consider the tentative agreements during its Aug. 6 meeting. If approved, the contracts will take effect under the negotiated timelines and provide a framework for employee compensation through the coming school years.
