The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is inviting San Gabriel Valley residents to weigh in on local bus service at monthly public meetings held in El Monte.
The San Gabriel Valley Service Council, an advisory body created by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, meets on the second Monday of each month at 5 p.m. at Metro Division 9, 3449 Santa Anita Ave., adjacent to El Monte Station.
The meetings are open to the public and focus on bus service performance, reliability and proposed changes affecting communities across El Monte, South El Monte, Baldwin Park, Rosemead, Arcadia, Temple City and Irwindale.
San Gabriel Valley Metro Meetings Purpose
Metro divides Los Angeles County into several service regions, each guided by a local service council made up of community representatives. The San Gabriel Valley council reviews ridership data, on-time performance reports and customer feedback specific to the region.
Council members can recommend service adjustments and policy changes to Metro management and the Metro Board. While the council does not make final systemwide decisions, it serves as a formal advisory link between riders and agency leadership.
Public comment is a standing agenda item at every meeting. Residents may speak in person or submit written comments for the public record. Metro often provides a virtual attendance option, depending on the meeting format.
Agendas and supporting documents are posted in advance at https://www.metro.net/about/lsc/.
San Gabriel Valley Metro Meetings Impact
Bus service plays a central role in daily life across the San Gabriel Valley. Major corridors such as Valley Boulevard, Garvey Avenue, Santa Anita Avenue and Peck Road carry thousands of riders each day.
El Monte Station functions as one of the region’s primary transit hubs. It connects local bus routes with Metro and regional lines serving downtown Los Angeles and surrounding cities.
For riders concerned about service frequency, safety, route adjustments or proposed cuts, the San Gabriel Valley Metro meetings offer a structured forum close to home. Council feedback has informed past service modifications, outreach efforts and operational changes, according to Metro materials.
Residents who depend on transit to reach jobs, schools and medical appointments can raise concerns directly with representatives who focus on the region’s needs.
San Gabriel Valley Metro Meetings Participation
Residents can attend meetings in person at Metro Division 9 or join remotely when virtual access is offered. Written comments may be submitted in advance through the Metro website.
Meeting details, including agendas and participation instructions, are available under the Local Service Councils section at metro.net.
For communities across the San Gabriel Valley, the monthly sessions provide a consistent venue to influence how public transportation operates in their neighborhoods.
For riders who rely on Metro each day, the opportunity to speak publicly about service is not limited to downtown board hearings. It takes place every month in El Monte.
