Eaton Fire Compensation Program Reaches 210 Offers

Southern California Edison has delivered 210 compensation offers totaling $117 million to households and businesses affected by the Eaton Fire, marking a milestone 90 days after launching its Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program.

The utility announced Jan. 29 that it has met its pledge to provide fair and fast relief to eligible claimants who submit complete claims. Offers have been issued an average of 30 days after a substantially complete filing, well ahead of the program’s 90-day commitment.

Company officials said the Eaton Fire compensation program aims to reduce financial strain while communities continue to recover from the wildfire that damaged homes, displaced residents, and disrupted local businesses across the San Gabriel Valley foothill area.

“Our hope is that people will take a look at the program, fill out a claim and see if it is the right decision for them,” Edison International President and Chief Executive Officer Pedro J. Pizarro said in a prepared statement. He pointed to visible recovery in Altadena as a sign of progress and purpose.

Fast Claims Bring Early Relief

Since the Eaton Fire compensation program opened on Oct. 29, 2025, 2,149 household claims representing more than 6,000 individuals have been submitted. Of the 210 offers extended so far, 59 payments have already been issued, with others moving through final processing.

Compensation amounts vary widely based on loss type and severity. Recent offers include $135,000 for a tenant household with smoke and ash damage, nearly $650,000 for a tenant household deemed a total loss, and more than $2.7 million for a homeowner with multiple losses, separate from insurance proceeds.

Program administrators said the structure mirrors settlement values from past wildfire lawsuits while avoiding prolonged litigation. Claimants may seek compensation for property damage, business interruption, physical injury, and personal impacts. Participants also receive a direct claim premium, and attorney fees may be covered for those with legal representation.

Legal participation remains optional, though more than 30 percent of claims have been filed by attorneys or authorized representatives. In response, Edison introduced a batch intake option that allows law firms to submit multiple claims through one process, cutting administrative delays.

Deadlines And Local Support

Claims under the Eaton Fire compensation program will be accepted through Nov. 30, 2026. Once a fully documented claim is approved, payments are issued within 30 days after settlement paperwork is signed and notarized.

Residents and business owners can submit claims online, review sample offers, and find answers to common questions at the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program website, https://www.sce.com/wildfire/wildfire-recovery-compensation-program. Assistance is available in multiple languages by calling 888-912-8528, and in-person appointments remain available.

As Eaton Fire survivors rebuild, program officials said timely compensation can help stabilize households, support small businesses, and strengthen long-term recovery across affected neighborhoods.
