A long-awaited safety and traffic improvement project at Pacific Avenue and Bogart Avenue is now open, marking a major upgrade for drivers, pedestrians, and rail users in the area.

City officials announced the completion of the Pacific Avenue and Bogart Avenue Safety Improvements and Traffic Signalization Project, a $2.5 million effort focused on reducing conflicts at a previously stop-controlled intersection and improving overall traffic flow. The intersection now operates with a full traffic signal designed to clarify right-of-way and lower collision risks.

The Pacific Bogart safety project sits near a busy rail corridor and has been a concern for residents and commuters who travel the area daily. The work reflects broader regional goals to improve mobility while addressing long-standing safety gaps.

Intersection and Rail Upgrades Completed

The project introduced a new traffic signal at the intersection, replacing stop signs that had governed traffic movements for years. Transportation officials said the signal will help manage turning movements and reduce confusion during peak travel hours.

Nearby, the Pacific Avenue rail crossing received significant upgrades to meet current Metrolink standards. Improvements included new crossing gates, modern warning equipment, and updated pavement across the tracks. The changes move the corridor closer to qualifying for a future quiet zone, which would limit routine train horn use and reduce noise impacts for nearby neighborhoods.

Crews also completed pavement repairs, installed new signage, and refreshed lane striping to improve visibility for drivers and pedestrians moving through the area.

Funding and Regional Support

The Pacific Bogart safety project was funded through a combination of Metro and state transportation grants, according to city officials. The investment reflects a coordinated effort between local agencies and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to address safety near rail lines and high-traffic corridors.

Officials thanked residents and businesses for their patience during construction, which required intermittent lane closures and temporary access changes. Work is now complete, and all lanes are open.

Community Impact Moving Forward

Local leaders said the completed improvements will provide immediate benefits while supporting long-term transportation planning goals. Safer crossings and clearer traffic control are expected to reduce delays and improve daily commutes for residents who rely on Pacific Avenue.
