El Monte Union High School District families gathered for the Annual Family Holiday Posada, celebrating community spirit and cultural traditions. The event brought joy to students, parents and staff as the district transformed its campus entrances into festive holiday tunnels filled with lights, music and cheer.

Festive drive‑through welcomes families

On December 5, El Monte Union hosted its Family Posada drive‑through event for the seventh straight year. Cars rolled through a bright tunnel of holiday lights while students sang carols and greeted families with smiles. Community members waved and cheered as they passed stations with treats, festive displays and seasonal music.

Families enjoyed holiday favorites like tamales and sweet treats. Santa Claus waved from a decorated float, and playful “snow” fell as children and adults laughed. Mariachi musicians added cultural flavor, performing lively songs that echoed throughout the campus.

Parents and students alike remarked on the positive atmosphere. One mom said the experience made her holiday season feel “warm and bright.” Students participating in performances expressed pride in showcasing their talents for family and friends.

Posada reflects cultural and community values

The district’s posada event highlights both holiday tradition and family engagement. Posadas are a long‑standing cultural celebration in many communities, commemorating hospitality and shared joy. El Monte Union’s version brought these values to life with music, food and community participation.

According to the event flier, the posada was open to all families in the district. It ran from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and participants could register in advance using the link bit.ly/posada724 or by contacting their school site staff. School liaisons helped organize logistics and ensured families had clear instructions for the drive‑through experience.

District leaders said the annual event aims to strengthen bonds between campuses and families. By creating a festive, inclusive atmosphere, the posada supports the district’s broader goal of family engagement and student success.

Community partners and student involvement

A range of staff and volunteers helped bring the posada to life. Teachers and support staff from all district high schools worked together to decorate, manage stations, and greet families. Students in performing groups practiced for weeks to prepare their caroling and mariachi performances.

Local vendors and partners contributed to food and decorations. Their involvement underscored the strong community support for district events. Organizers thanked families and partners for their time and energy, noting that the event would not be possible without their contributions.

Looking ahead to future celebrations

The success of this year’s posada sets a positive tone for holiday events throughout the San Gabriel Valley. El Monte Union administrators said they plan to build on this momentum in upcoming school and community activities in 2026.
