Kidz Feeding Kidz outreach efforts reached another milestone this month as the Rosemead-based youth initiative provided Thanksgiving meals to families across East Los Angeles. The program, led by brothers Nolan and Nicholas Adalin, has grown each year while keeping its focus on service rooted in the Salesian mission.

Local Youth Lead Kidz Feeding Kidz Outreach

The project began six years ago when the brothers sought a simple way to help families facing food insecurity during the holidays. Nicholas is now a sophomore at Don Bosco Technical Institute, and Nolan is a Bosco Tech graduate studying at USC. Both continue to organize students and parish communities to meet rising needs in the region.

This year, support came from Bosco Tech, the St. Joseph Retreat Center Salesian Cooperators, Sunday Mass groups, and partner agencies. With guidance from Fr. Thein Nguyen, Director of the Salesian Community in Rosemead, the program expanded its reach once more. Youth centre staff identified households that needed the most help, allowing the team to direct resources to families with limited access to holiday meals.

On Nov. 19, volunteers gathered to distribute food to 44 families. Students, parents, Cooperators, and community partners packed and delivered meals. Organizers said the effort reflects the spirit of Don Bosco, who emphasized care for youth and the poor through practical acts of service.

Community Impact of Kidz Feeding Kidz Outreach

KFK participants described the event as a reminder of how local service projects create steady support for families. The program’s structure relies on young volunteers who help with fundraising, outreach, packing, and distribution. Organizers said this model builds leadership skills while strengthening ties between schools, parishes, and neighborhood agencies.

Salesian Cooperators noted their gratitude to Nolan, Nicholas, and the many families who contributed. They said the program continues to grow because it is grounded in direct community engagement and student leadership. With rising need across Los Angeles County, groups involved in the project expect continued collaboration with Bosco Tech and the Rosemead Salesian community.

Looking Ahead

KFK organizers plan to continue their work through future holiday seasons and hope to expand support activities during the school year. Community members interested in volunteering or partnering with a local food effort can find information through regional service directories, including LA Works at https://www.laworks.com.

The Kidz Feeding Kidz outreach again brought families together during a season defined by gratitude. Local leaders said the Adalin brothers and their partners delivered more than meals by offering a moment of stability, dignity, and care to households across East Los Angeles.
