The City of Baldwin Park will host its annual Baldwin Park holiday event on December 12 with a community pajama party at Susan Rubio Zocalo Park. The Department of Recreation and Community Services announced the program this week and invited families to take part in an evening of crafts, treats, and a seasonal film.

Family Program Opens With Activities

The Baldwin Park holiday event begins at 5 p.m. at 14349 E. Pacific Avenue. The schedule features free refreshments while supplies last, open craft tables for all ages, and a festive space set up for families to gather in pajamas. City staff organized the program to give residents a chance to enjoy a simple outdoor celebration before the rush of the season. Raising Cane’s provided support for the event.

Organizers expect a strong turnout from local families. The flier notes a photo opportunity with Santa in the early part of the evening. Children can meet him near the main activity area. The city encourages families to arrive early so they can take part in crafts and snacks before the movie begins. Staff will remain on site for the full program and will guide visitors through the activity stations.

Movie Screening Scheduled for Evening

A screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas is set for 7:30 p.m. at the same location. The Baldwin Park holiday event will transition from crafts to the movie as daylight fades. Families are welcome to bring blankets and warm clothing for the outdoor setting. The city aims to create a calm and friendly environment that fits the tone of the story. Organizers added the film to give the event a clear closing point and to build on the theme of seasonal cheer.

City staff continue to highlight the value of small neighborhood gatherings during winter. Many families rely on local programs for safe outings close to home. Parks staff said the goal is to offer space for children to relax and enjoy a classic story. Seating will be available, though families often bring their own chairs to outdoor films. Community Value of Seasonal Programs

The Baldwin Park holiday event reflects the city’s ongoing effort to support accessible recreation. Winter programs tend to draw large crowds and give residents a chance to connect with neighbors. The pajama theme adds a light detail that appeals to younger participants and reinforces the informal nature of the gathering. City leaders plan to continue similar programs across the season.

Families who attend will have a chance to enjoy crafts, music, and a classic holiday film in a safe park setting. The city hopes the event offers a simple and cheerful start to local celebrations.
