EMCSD and Schools Receive Honor Roll Status

El Monte City School District, along with five of its schools, were named Honor Roll recipients by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP). This non-profit organization applies data science to help improve student outcomes within the educational system. Using analytical data and scores, the ERP awarded 2025 Honor Roll status to Cleminson, Durfee, Gidley, LeGore, and Rio Vista. EMCSD was also named an Honor Roll district by ERP for their overall performance and growth.

ERP has accumulated the nation’s largest database on student achievement from kindergarten into the labor market. In partnership with educators and employers, ERP charts the pathways that lead to academic success and living-wage jobs. “Many educators across California are already delivering rigorous instruction that equips students with the fundamentals they need to succeed in the workforce and in life,” said ERP’s Chief Executive Officer James Lanich, Ph.D. “The Honor Roll recognizes that work—identifying schools in a diversity of ZIP codes where students of all backgrounds are mastering the core academic skills that will help them thrive in a rapidly changing world of work.”

The ERP Honor Roll recognition comes on the heels of EMCSD receiving the Latino/a/x Educational Advancement and Distinction (LEAD) Award from the California Latino School Board Association (CSLBA). The LEAD award was given to EMCSD for exemplifying excellence in leadership, unity, and equity-centered practices that uplift Latino/a and at-promise youth. Over the years, EMCSD has made significant investments into student-centered programming and learning designed to bring real-world experiences and expertise to students. This includes investing in meaningful professional development for teachers, administrators, and staff to further the district’s academic goals. Coupled with diverse programming which includes access to different clubs, programs, and study trips, EMCSD has a recipe for academic and social success. Programs like Band, Mariachi, and Musical Theatre continue to flourish, while the district is broadening its offerings to include activities like Culinary, Science Olympiad, and Cheer. Each of these programs harness student interest as a tool to drive student achievement.

“We are striving to ensure every EMCSD student gains the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the world they are inheriting,” explained EMCSD Superintendent Dr. Maribel Garcia. “We have the building blocks for academic success, which require time, patience, and adaptability and we are proud to see our work recognized by both the ERP and CSLBA. These recognitions reflect the dedication from our team in their daily work as well as the dedication of students as active learners. Our students want to learn and effect real change, our educators are studying the data to guide our students better, and our families trust us, forming a partnership that will ensure our children are set up for success well beyond their tenure in our district.”

This year, EMCSD launched a 5-year Strategic Plan that can be summed up by one phrase, “Achieve Beyond Limits”. The district is taking inventory on their resources and programming to find and utilize the best practices that will help them succeed in their four priority areas, with number one being Academic Success for All.
