by | Aug 3, 2025 | Health & Wellness

The El Monte Community Resource Center continues to serve local residents by offering free health services, wellness classes, and access to essential social programs. Located at 3570 Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte, the center operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to the public regardless of insurance status.

This site is part of a network of Community Resource Centers sponsored by L.A. Care Health Plan and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan. It is designed to support community members with no-cost services that promote physical health, mental well-being, and social connection. The El Monte Community Resource Center is easily accessible by public transit, situated near the El Monte Bus Station, and offers free parking for visitors.

Free Classes and Bilingual Support

The center hosts daily health and wellness classes such as Zumba, yoga, nutrition education, and cooking demonstrations. All classes are free and open to the public. Many are offered in both English and Spanish.

On a recent weekday morning, the schedule included a bilingual Zumba class at 9 a.m. followed by a diabetes education session at 10:15 a.m. Participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome. For parents, the center offers child supervision during class times for children ages 4 and up.

According to the center’s official class schedule, weekly and monthly events also include CPR training, mental wellness workshops, and guided meditation sessions. A full schedule is available at communityresourcecenterla.org.

Health Plan Member Services

Members of L.A. Care and Blue Shield Promise Health Plans can receive support from on-site staff. Services include help navigating health benefits, accessing telehealth visits, and connecting with care coordinators or social workers.

New members who attend a health plan orientation may receive a $10 supermarket gift card as part of the welcome process. Tablets, laptops, and free Wi-Fi are available for members using the center’s telehealth services or completing care tasks on-site.

Appointments are not required for general visits, though members may call ahead to schedule personalized services. The contact number for the El Monte location is (213) 428-1495.

Access to Groceries and Social Support

The El Monte Community Resource Center also provides direct aid to those facing food insecurity. Through local partnerships, the center offers free grocery distribution on a weekly or monthly basis. All food services are available on a first-come, first-served basis and do not require proof of insurance or registration.

In addition to food assistance, staff can help connect residents with housing support, financial aid, legal help, and other social services using the center’s “Community Link” referral system.

Ongoing Commitment to Community Health

The center frequently hosts seasonal events such as back-to-school supply giveaways and healthy eating fairs. These events often include informational booths, family-friendly activities, and incentives such as grocery store gift cards while supplies last.

The next Healthy Eating Resource Fair will be posted on the center’s events calendar, and residents are encouraged to attend to receive free resources and connect with local partners.

The El Monte Community Resource Center serves as a vital hub for the Mid Valley community, bridging the gap between healthcare, education, and essential services. Its continued presence reflects a broader effort to improve public health and access in underserved areas.
